granted, i took a break in the middle of this one to work on technical problems with the short i was editing (avid sucks. but watch the short? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz0UvK1s4Ic), which i am told was conveniently during the movie's slow chunk, but i loved it. classic kurosawa. a beautifully shot, well told, cool-as-hell story.
classics scale: 8/10 (it's difficult to justify giving it higher seeing as i didn't see some of it)
