PLEASE NOTE: there is a major difference between the scale with which modern movies are being judged and the "classics scale" with which the...well...good ones are being judged.

*******SPOILERS BELOW*******

goodfellas (scorsese, 1990)

after a week long bout with the final two seasons plus of the sopranos (hey--television has must-be-seen classics, too...), my friday night was spent with the culminating three episodes, followed immediately by goodfellas. --when the mood strikes...

anyways, be it that stark's list is somewhat old, or for any other reason, goodfellas did not make the cut. this does not mean it shouldn't have, though; by afi's and imdb's standards goodfellas is most certainly considered a classic, and rightfully so. an engaging, interesting story with numerous memorable moments and many fantastic tracking shots that make you feel like you're one of the guys, scorsese's masterpiece sucks you in and doesn't let go for a moment. a great movie, gangster or otherwise.

(newly renamed) classics scale: 8/10
modern classics scale: 9/10
